Cognitive Automata Synthesizer
Generative modular patch matrix synthesizer driven by a Cellular Automata engine for dynamic self-patching and evolving patterns.
Price: €15.00 | Formats: VST3, Standalone
Description
Cognitive Automata Synthesizer is a generative synthesizer designed to explore chaotic, evolving sonic ecosystems. It models the core analog stages of a legendary three-oscillator modular instrument (3 VCOs, dual filters, analog diode ring modulator, loopable trapezoid envelope, sample-and-hold, noise generator) and interfaces them with a 2D/1D Cellular Automata simulation. Patches evolve procedurally via Conway's Game of Life or elementary Wolfram rules, quantized to selectable musical scales. All visual controls are strictly monochrome 1-bit, utilizing geometric wireframe widgets for pure scientific instrumentation feedback.
Key Features
- Virtual analog model of a classic three-oscillator modular engine: 3 VCOs, dual filters, analog diode ring modulator, loopable trapezoid envelope, and Zener noise generator
- 16x16 Dynamic Patch Matrix with click-free patching using lag-filtered node gains
- Cellular Automata Matrix Evolve Mode: Conway's Game of Life and alternative 2D rulesets driving real-time self-patching
- Cellular Automata Sequencer Mode: 16-step pitch and gate sequencer with built-in scale quantization
- 1D Elementary Wolfram Rules (Rule 30, 90, 110, 150) for scrolling historical modulation patterns
- SWEnigiser-mode multi-pole VCF matrix routing LP, Notch, HP, BP, and Phaser filters
- Anti-Derivative Anti-Aliasing (ADAA) on all distortion and saturation points (Filter Burn, Ring Mod, Wavefolder)
- Square-root gain compensation on filter drive inputs to prevent severe loudness spikes
- Strictly monochrome 1-bit visual identity inspired by cellular geometry and scientific instrumentation
- High-performance lock-free audio thread architecture with zero heap allocations
- Signalsmith varispeed tape delay and 8-line Feedback Delay Network (FDN) late reverb stage
